How we select our staff at West Finchley Preschool
Nursery in West Finchley
At the West Finchley Preschool, we are proud to have a skilled, experienced, and passionate team made up of talented individuals who not only embody our core values, but are also dedicated to delivering the highest possible level of care for our children.
With this in mind, we take the recruitment process extremely seriously, taking every care to ensure that we recruit only the highest quality applicants.
When it comes to selecting potential staff, the most important thing for us is their passion for working with children. This is something that can’t be taught or learned, and it’s a characteristic that’s essential for anyone working within our Preschool. We look for individuals who genuinely care for the children they are working with. Working within our industry, it’s also important to have a positive approach and be flexible at all times!
Of course, it goes without saying that qualifications are also important, and we only every employ staff with the relevant skills and qualifications. We only consider applicants who are qualified at Level 3 or above, and all of our teachers must have a degree in their relevant subject area.
Our recruitment process
To ensure that we only employ the most passionate, dedicated, and qualified staff, we have a comprehensive recruitment process, which includes:
- Pre-interview screening
- In person interviews
- Trial sessions working with children in our nurseries
- DBS checking
- Reference checks
And it doesn’t stop there. Once an employee has joined our team, we provide on-going support and mentoring to ensure that they not only meet our impeccably high standards, but also that they settle in quickly and enjoy their new role.
All new starters are given a six-month probationary period, during which we work with them closely to ensure that they have a thorough understanding of our policies and procedures, and that they’re fully equipped to implement our unique West Finchley Preschool curriculum.
On-going training and support
We are committed to continuous development and improvement. After all, when we find a great member of staff, we want to hold on to them and allow them to reach their full potential.
Following their probation period, we continue to work closely with our staff, providing on-going training, support, and mentoring to help them to develop, grow, and excel in their roles.
